July 8, 2011 - FEATURE WINNER at Chateau Raceway in Lansing, MN!
It was a jam-packed night of excitement Friday night at the Chateau Raceway. There were six feature races to be made up from the previous week along with the entire show for this week. Add to that the spectacular fireworks display after the show and fans got their moneys worth this week.
Mother Nature again gave everyone a scare with rain that fell within a few miles of the speedway, but skies cleared and things went off without a hitch. The 24-race program was clicked off in just a touch over four hours when things went fairly smooth on track.
After an exciting opening ceremonies complete with the Sons Of American Legion Post 149 of Morristown color guard and the invocation from Dustin Steinbrink. There was a beautiful performance of our national anthem by Cindy Lindahl complete with the rockets red glare and bombs that bursted in mid-air the program was underway.
Jacob Dahle completed a storybook night in the USRA RHS Modifieds. His family's business, Dahle Enterprises, was the title sponsor of the evening's races. There was a big contingent of family and friends in attendance tonight also. It was also his last race in this area for a while because he has accepted a new job in Omaha.
The luck of the draw put Dahle on the pole for the 25-lap feature. He stormed off the point to the lead with Wetzstein in second. Wetzstein was all over Dahle as he looked for room to pass. They were door to door on lap 5, but Dahle was up to the challenge. Cummins worked his way to third when he passed Wiste.
Dahle and Wetzstein remained close throughout the first part of the race. A yellow for a stalled Jeremy Misgen closed up the pack. The break did not faze Dahle and he continued to lead. Behind him Cummins snagged second from Wetzstein, but Wetzstein drove back by.
Dahle pulled away from there for his second win in front of a fired up crowd. The fans went nuts when Dahle celebrated the win with several victory doughnuts on the frontstretch. Wetzstein held second and Davis made a late-race charge to third and also picked up the extra $50. Cummins wound up fourth with Wiste in fifth.
